We have been graciously given the opportunity to be a part of a new community based project started by our very own Vidalia Police Department and the Vidalia Citizens Police Academy.  The officers come twice a week to read to our students.  Chief Waits began the reading project by reading a book about police officers to Mrs. Parrish's 1st grade class.  Officer James Jermon and Jack Downy accompanied Chief Waits.  The next day, Officer James Jermon accompanied by Biram Chapman came and read a book about learning to say please to Ms. Davis' 1st grade class.  Thursday, Oct. 1st, Officer Garry Colson accompanied by Lisa Chesser came and read a book about saying I'm sorry again and again to Mrs. Pace's 1st grade class.  Mrs. Chesser, Mr. Chapman, and Mr. Downy are members of the first "Vidalia Citizens Police Academy".

We would like to thank all of you for taking time to come and read to our students here at Dickerson Primary.  They have been so excited about it, and others cannot wait until it's their turn to have you read to them.
