I graduated from Vidalia High School in 1977.  After graduating and attending Georgia Southern College for one year, I worked at Darby Bank and Trust Company for eleven years.  After having my second child, I returned to college and graduated with my Early Childhood Education degree from Brewton Parker College in 1993.  In 2007, I completed my Masters degree from Nova Southeastern University.

I have been teaching school for 24 years.  My first teaching position was in 1993 in the newly established Georgia Pre-kindergarten program at Toombs Central Elementary School in Lyons, GA.  I taught there for one year before transferring to J D Dickerson Primary School.  I continued teaching pre-kindergarten for seven years and then taught first grade for 13 years.  I have been teaching kindergarten for three years. I was chosen Teacher of the Year for J. D. Dickerson Primary School and System Teacher of the Year in 2010.

I was born and raised in Vidalia, GA.  I have been happily married to my husband, Joey, for thirty-seven years, and we have two children, one son-in-law, and two granddaughters.  Our daughter, Casey, is a physical therapist for Jeff Davis County School System, Toombs County School System, and Vidalia City School System. She has been married to her husband, Trent, for 10 years.  Casey and Trent have two daughters, Trentley and Brooklyn.  Trentley is five years old and Brooklyn is two. Our son, Chris, graduated from Georgia Southern University in December 2011 with a BS degree in early childhood education and masters degree in the summer of 2014.  He is a kindergarten teacher at J. D. Dickerson Primary School.
